Taste Italian isn’t just another Italian restaurant - it’s a slice of real Italy, created by people who live and breathe it.

Family-run and born from a deep love of Italian food, we serve regional dishes inspired by our roots in Puglia, in the south-east of Italy.
James’ grandmother was born there, and many of our recipes - including our signature Braciole con Orecchiette - come directly from her kitchen. Every plate tells a story that started generations ago.
Tradition isn’t something we say, it’s something we live
From San Marzano tomatoes and cheeses from Puglia and Sicily, to our Birranova beers and Terrecarsiche wines imported from James’ cousin’s vineyards, everything we serve carries a genuine taste of Italy.

Even our soft drinks celebrate Italian flavour - Limonata, Chinotto and other traditional favourites that bring a real Italian feel to every table.

As the only restaurant in the UK to serve Terrecarsiche wines, and one of the few in Nottingham pouring traditional Illy Coffee, authenticity runs through everything we do.
A menu that evolves - just like Italy
Our menu is intentionally small and refreshed each month to match our monthly wine-tasting events.
We cook fresh every day, sourcing produce from trusted local butchers and suppliers, combined with carefully chosen ingredients imported directly from Italy.

With just 22 covers, Taste Italian is intimate, relaxed, and designed for connection - a cosy space where the atmosphere feels personal and the welcome is genuine.

A dream that became reality
Taste Italian came to life through James and Klara’s shared love of Italian food - a dream that took time, passion, and perseverance to make real.
Their vision became reality on 29 May 2025, when Taste Italian opened its doors to welcome Nottingham to real Italy.
